Kalavantin Durg lies in the Raigarh district of Maharashtra. The height of this fort is 2,250 ft. It becomes the center of attraction of trekkers. Due to its difficulty level, fewer people come here. Mountain trekkers and adventure lovers will enjoy this location. How dangerous this fort is, it can be estimated from here that people lost their life while trekking. Yes, in 2016, Rachita Gupta from Hyderabad who is still 27 years old has lost her life during trekking. She climbing Kalavantin for the second time. After that in 2018, Pune base trekker Chetan Dhande died during trekking, whose body was found after 4 hours.

In addition to Kalavantin Fort, there is Prabalgad Fort. These forts were built in the 15th century in the name of Queen Kalavantin. It was more like a watchtower than a fort. This fort was built by the rulers of that time to keep eye on their enemies.

During his escape from India, a British ruler attempted to destroy this fort, but could not due to its bold artwork and amazing beauty.

The difficulties level is very very high because of its steep stairs. The entire path is paved with stairs, but there is no railing. The only way to climb the fort is via the stairs, there is no other way. This fort was built so that even if someone tried to climb here, it could be seen easily. Throughout you can found small water and lemon soda tea stall which will help you to keep hydrated.

A nearby fort is Prabalgad fort. Which is also made for the same purpose. Many forts can be seen from the top of the fort. The more difficult it is to climb this fort, the more difficult it is to descend.

How to reach Kalavantin Durg

As all know it is situated in Maharashtra Raigad district. Panvel is the closest bus stand. You can take sharing taxi from here.

Things Always Keep In Mind

It would be better if you didn’t wait for the bus. It is not known whether the bus will arrive at a certain time, according to the locals.

Get here early in the morning so you can enjoy your trek comfortably.

Don’t start your trekking too late because according to rules there is no entry after 5 to 6 pm.

Carry a bag to keep a plastic bottle and rapper.
